For far too long the grunge music scene, spawned by the
west coast, has been under-represented by the female gender.
Finally, their savior has arrived...from the east coast...of
Canada. It's not surprising when fellow alternative singer
Alanis Morissette also hails from Canada, and in many ways
the comparisons are valid. But Avril's debut album represents
a younger generation that is angst-ridden, but not burdened
by mature, moral complexities. Life can be a bitch, but
as a teen, so can you. (editor's note: "bitch"
is used as a broader metaphor here and not to derogate Ms.
Lavigne)
